Fables! – Fences (Remix)
Right now you may be thinking what I was thinking when I first saw this song: ”Another f-ing Phoenix remix! As if there weren’t enough in 2009 and 2010.” But cease that kind of thinking immediately! Despite my initially critical thoughts of the song, Fables! remix of “Fences” blew me away from the moment I started playing it. They strip the song down to nothing but a couple vocal tracks and some shimmering chimes and build it back up with their own irresistibly catchy bass and synth. I could listen to this baby fuur dayz
Video: Lick the Lizard
Rusko & Reso – Lick The Lizard from Mad Decent on Vimeo.
I’m not quite sure if I love this video or hate it. I do feel, however, that this video probably contains the best visual representation of this type of music that I’ve seen. ”Lick the Lizard” (a brostep banger, but a good one) will be released on April 5th along with Rusko’s newest single, “Everyday” (not feeling this one so much).
Childish Gambino – Freaks and Geeks
“bad girl on her knees, she don’t want to come near me/ cause my dick is too big, there’s a Big Bang Theory”
Im not going to spend a lot of time on this post because this guy has already been all over the blogosphere for the past couple weeks. What I do want to say is that Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover), the bro rapist turned 30 Rock writer turned Community star turned rapper, has released my hands-down favorite song of the month with “Freaks and Geeks”. He spits three-and-a-half minutes of unbelievably creative lyrics, full of energy, swagger, and cheek. When you get further into his work, you’ll see that Gambino is also honest and self-reflective with his music in a way you don’t see with many rappers. I’m truly excited for his new EP to come out, and I think big things are in store for Childish Gambino in 2011.
The Last Dance EP
Yes, I actually do remember that there’s a little blog I started in 2010. And yes, I’ve done a fairly poor job at running it (i.e. treating it with extreme laziness and a lack of motivation), and I’m sorry for that. And to be honest I’m making no promise to do any better in the coming months, but at the moment I’m just overwhelmed with the desire to share my love for Clare Maguire’s newest single “The Last Dance”, and the four stellar remixes that come with it on the release. Both Neon Lights and Chase & Status gives us terrific remixes with downtempo syncopation and fluttering sub-bass. Im particularly impressed with Chase & Status’s remix. It show a kind a subtlety we don’t usually see from them. Kris Menace closes out the single with some signature filtered French house sounds.

Do you like bass?
Treasure Fingers, who is signed to Fools Gold Records (Yeah A-trak), has a knack for remixing songs. His remix of “I’ll Get You?” by the Classixx has that French disco house feel that i haven’t been able to find enough of recently. listen to it, love it, and ask yourself, do you like bass?
I’ll Get You (feat. Jeppe)(Treasure Fingers Remix) – Classixx
Bonus Track
Fools Gold has recently come out with a compilation CD featuring many of its artists. Both A-Trak (as posted earlier)and Treasure Fingers display their skills on this compilation and i highly recommend it for anyone who likes electronic music. enjoy.
Be excited…
Be very excited. Daft Punk is coming back and this is just the beginning. With Tron: Legacy coming out in December they’re going to start blowing up this next month, so embrace the return of the house-gods and hope their impending tour will come through a city near you (which it undoubtably will).
Im not going to waste your time
These are the songs that have been the most overplayed in November so far
Flux Pavilion is climbing to the top in the dubstep world. his originals such as “I Can’t Stop” and “Got 2 know” are straight nasty dubstep. “Haunt me” is a little different, but it shows off his raw talent. Flux also remixed a Jamiroquai called “Blue Skies,” which has personally been my favorite this month.
Jamiroquai – Blue Skies (Flux Pavilion Remix)
Chiddy Bang keeps coming out with gold. their remix of The Knocks‘ “Dancing with the DJ” reminds me of Xaphoon and Proto’s work on The Swelly Express EP, which was an amazing mixtape. enjoy.
Digitalism – Blitz
The German Duo Digitalism has finally come out with a new EP after a 2 year hiatus. Their sound was missed greatly, and their new single “Blitz” is a great song. be sure to Get the full EP when you get the chance!
Bonus:
Both of these songs were favorites of mine by Digitalism off previous releases. the first is off Idealism, a 2007 release that has many quality songs, while the latter is from Digitalism’s Taken Away EP released in 2008. enjoy!
Grum
The scott has some talent on the tables. Every time he comes out with a new remix he seems to just get better and better. enjoy Grum.
Wherever We Are (Grum Dub Mix) – Human Life
Oh No! (Grum Remix) – Marina & The Diamonds
Miracle (Grum Remix) – Tommy Sparks
Lets listen to music
Songs that i just have to listen to have been hard to come by in recent weeks. i haven’t found many gems that have really caught my ear. I have to get my fix somehow, so i have been rummaging through older songs of mine, and i am re-discovering some amazing songs. enjoy
Hearts Under Fire (Pance Party Remix) - Miles Dyson
Half In Love With Elizabeth (Delorean Remix) – Mystery Jets
Suspense Is Killing Me (Philipe De Boyar remix) – Boy 8-bit
